The opening arc establishes Tanjiro's purpose, Nezuko's unusual condition, and the Demon Slayer Corps. Let the early training breathe: it explains the breathing styles and emotional discipline behind the later fights.
Follow release order for the clearest experience
Watch the first television season, then the Mugen Train story in its available film or episodic form, and then continue into the Entertainment District, Swordsmith Village, and Hashira Training material in release order. Do not watch both versions of the same Mugen Train material unless you want the recap differences.
Why the arcs escalate well
Each arc adds a new kind of pressure rather than simply a stronger enemy. The cast gains allies, the Corps' leadership becomes more visible, and Tanjiro's compassion is tested against increasingly painful choices.

The official Demon Slayer portal lists both Mugen Train formats and the later Infinity Castle film project. First-time viewers do not need to watch the Mugen Train story twice. The episodic cut adds television framing and some additional material; the film offers the same central story in one sitting.
What can be skipped?
Do not skip a canon arc simply because it has fewer headline battles. Swordsmith Village develops Tanjiro's changing abilities and important Hashira, while Hashira Training establishes relationships and readiness that the final conflict expects viewers to understand. Promotional compilations and recap screenings are optional.
Best viewing plan
Watch one arc at a time instead of racing toward Infinity Castle. Demon Slayer's emotional callbacks depend on remembering each demon's encounter and the people who helped Tanjiro progress. If returning after a long break, recap the Entertainment District and Swordsmith Village endings before Hashira Training.
